King Fahd International Airport was opened in October 1999. It is currently the third busiest international airport in Saudi Arabia. Located in the Eastern Region, it is one of the major entry points to the region with a population of over 4 million people. Since July 1, 2017, the airport has been operated by Dammam Airports Company (DACO). The airport is connected to densely populated areas by two main roads. The northern road is a four-lane highway connecting the airport to Qatif. The southern exit is a six-lane main road connecting the airport to Dammam. The airport is easily accessible from the city center.
