Booking a transfer before you land

Getting to Al Khobar, Dhahran, Qatif and Jubail
The terminal has two road exits. The northern one is a four-lane highway to Qatif; the southern one is the six-lane King Fahd Road to Dammam, and it carries most of the traffic.

Al Khobar is the run people underestimate. It sits roughly half again as far as downtown Dammam, in the opposite direction from Qatif, and a quote given for Dammam does not carry over to it.
Jubail is the other long one, and most arrivals heading there are going to an industrial site rather than to the town centre. Name the plant or the gate when you agree the fare. If the trip involves several sites over several days, hiring a car at the airport works out simpler than agreeing a fare each morning.
If you land after midnight
Between 23:30 and 05:30 the bus is out, and app supply is at its thinnest. What remains is the desks in the ground transportation centre and whatever was booked before departure.
The airport sits 31 km northwest of downtown Dammam with very little around it, so an arrival at that hour is not somewhere to work out a plan. Check the scheduled landing time against those hours before leaving home, and watch the live arrivals board if you are the one collecting.
Riyals in small notes are worth having on you either way. The desks settle up front, and the apps are the only option here that takes a card by default.
