Aelia Duty Free
One store rather than a row of designer boutiques, and it runs on both the international departures level and the arrivals level. Perfume and cosmetics, sunglasses, jewellery, electronics, chocolate and snacks, clothing and gift items. Lists elsewhere naming individual fashion houses do not match what is on the floor.
Duty-free goods are sold free of customs duty and of the 15 percent VAT that applies in the Kingdom. The gap is real on perfume, cosmetics and tobacco, where duty and tax make up a large share of the shelf price. On electronics it is usually thinner, so check against a price you already know.
Buying Duty Free on Arrival
Saudi Arabia permits duty-free purchases in arrival halls, and Dammam has a store on the arrivals level, so you can buy after landing rather than only before departure. Two limits apply and they are per person, not per family.

Shop First, Sit Down Afterwards
The store has two checkout points and regularly runs one. At busy times the queue builds well past twenty people, and it moves at the speed of a single till.
So do it in the right order. If you clear security with an hour in hand, spend the first fifteen minutes at the till rather than the last fifteen. On a tight connection, skip the shop entirely. This is the one piece of timing advice that actually costs people their boarding call here.
Eating at King Fahd International Airport
Round-the-clock food is the most useful and least reported thing about this terminal, and it is not true of most airports this size. Note which side of security each place sits on before you commit, because passing security means leaving the landside ones behind.
Ignore Every Mention of a Wine List
Alcohol is banned throughout Saudi Arabia and no shop or lounge in the Kingdom sells it, on departure or on arrival. A bottle bought at the duty free of your departure airport is still alcohol when you land at Dammam. Sealed bags and receipts make no difference. Buy it on the way out of the Kingdom, not on the way in.
Worth saying plainly because the misinformation runs deep. Reseller listings for the airport’s lounges mention selected alcoholic beverages, and trade coverage of the 2026 lounge reopening went further and described a bar serving wine and spirits. That text comes from an operator’s global template and was reprinted without being checked against Saudi law. It is wrong wherever you read it.
One Store, Not a Mall
Guides to this airport publish long rosters of fashion houses and electronics brands. King Fahd has a single duty-free store. It carries the standard travel-retail categories competently and at 24-hour opening, which is more useful to most passengers than a boutique list would be, but it is not Dubai and setting off expecting Dubai leads to a wasted twenty minutes.
If You Have Hours Rather Than Minutes
Terminal seating is ordinary airport seating. The four lounges at King Fahd start at 29 euros and two of them have showers, which for a long wait beats another coffee in the concourse. Arriving passengers pass passport control, baggage, then customs, with the arrivals duty free on the way through.
